The Dowse Art Museum approached Haworth by Europlan with a requirement for a conference table installation. We were tasked with finding a platform that allowed the space to be configured to meet The Dowse’s changing requirements.
After engaging in a consultative process with The Dowse, we put forward the Kite Folding Table System as a fit for purpose solution for their facility.
The Dowse needed a product that was indeed flexible and as the facility is in use 363 days a year it was paramount that it was robust. It was essential that the system allowed for easy reconfiguration as they offer a function venue for clients to use for small to large meetings, as a training facility, a team building space, weddings, and private functions.
Perhaps one of the most important yet humble features of the Kite system is its ability to fold down, nest and be placed into storage with minimal space required – this means when pieces are not in use they’re also not in the way.
Delivery and installation of 27 Kite Folding Tables for The Dowse took place in February 2007, seven years on and the system has stood the test of over 2,500 days of use. With this in mind we’ve developed a maintenance program for The Dowse to ensure the Kite system is constantly operating in peak condition.
The Dowse Art Museum is a free public gallery located in Lower Hutt, Wellington and is a place for people to enjoy contemporary art and culture.
We’ve enjoyed our partnership with the Museum and consider the longevity of the relationship a testament to the Kite product and the engineering and design behind it.
